Dancing in the Dragon's Jaws, Bruce Cockburn's ninth studio album, completed his trilogy of jazz-tinged folk albums and suggested a maturation of his Christianity, for which he thanks the writings of Charles Williams. The album ranked 52nd in CBC Radio's 2013 list of the Greatest Canadian Albums Ever and 57th in Bob Mersereau's 2007 book, The Top 100 Canadian Albums.
The album helped earn Cockburn the 1980 Juno Award as Folk Artist of the Year. It peaked at #45 on the US Billboard charts, reached at least #41 on The Record charts in Canada, and garnered decent reviews in international publications:
"Wondering Where the Lions Are" became Cockburn's biggest American hit (#21), while also going top forty (#39) in Canada.
