Tragically Hip – Fifty Mission Cap

"Fifty Mission Cap" was released as the second single from The Tragically Hip's Fully Completely album. While its title references the caps worn by elite allied bomber pilots during World War II, the song recounts the tragic story of Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Bill Barilko, who disappeared when his plane went down in the Northern Ontario bush.

When Gord Downie sings that he "stole this from a hockey card," the card he is referring to is probably Closedcard #340 in the 1992 Pro Set series rather than the 1951 Parkhurst card.
