Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – Helpless

"Helpless" was released on the B-side of "Woodstock," the first single from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's Déjà Vu album, the 148th greatest album of all time, according to Rolling Stone, and the first one that made me realize, as a pre-teen, that there may be some things better than the Beatles.

"Helpless" is seen as one of Neil Young's most autobiographical songs. I remember, back at White Pines Collegiate in the Sault, arguing about what "town in North Ontario" Young was singing about–needless to say, we made mockery of Lance Hildebrand for suggesting it could be Omemee, a town deep in South Ontario, while Mr. Gregg Young favoured his hometown of Thunder Bay, which, he said, Neil and the Squires used to play.
