Five Days in July is the fifth – and most commercially successful – album by Blue Rodeo. The album, which AllMusic rated a 4 out of 5, went six times platinum in Canada, peaked at #3 on the country chart and #8 on the top album chart, and spawned six hit singles: "5 Days in May" (#4 top singles, #5 adult contemporary), "Hasn't Hit Me Yet" (#8 top singles, #8 adult contemporary), "Bad Timing" (#17 top singles, #15 adult contemporary), "Dark Angel" (#19 adult contemporary), "'Til I Gain Control Again" (#24 country), and "Head Over Heels" (#4 country, #33 top singles, #16 adult contemporary).
It took me a while to really like Five Days in July or at least to admit that I liked it as much as the early albums with Bob Wiseman, even though it makes virtually every best Canadian album list:
