Ian & Sylvia – Four Strong Winds

"Four Strong Winds" is the title track from Ian & Sylvia's second album. Apparently released as a single and included on their 1970 Greatest Hits album, "Four Strong Winds" did not chart, though a Bobby Bare cover version snuck into the Canadian top 40 in 1964 and a Neil Young cover version reached the charts in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. in 1978.

"Four Strong Winds" is generally included in lists of the best Canadian songs:

• 28th in Chart magazine's 1996 poll
• 1st in CBC Radio's 50 Tracks: The Canadian Edition in 2005
• 9th in Bob Mersereau's 2010 The Top 100 Canadian Singles

• 43rd in Huffington Post's 2014 Best Canadian Songs Ever
• 13th in CBC Radio's 2014 list.
