Richard Séguin – Journée d'Amérique
Journée d'Amérique is the fourth solo album by Richard Séguin, who had previously released albums with Le Nouvelle Frontière and Les Séguin, and with Serge Fiori. Four singles were released from the album, including "L'ange vagabond" (included in Roger Chamberland and André Gaulin's La Chanson Québécoise anthology), "Journée d'Amérique," "Tu reviens de loin" (nominted for a prix Félix) and "Et tu marches..."
Richard Séguin was nominated for three Felix awards in 1989. Journée d'Amérique is included in Éric Trudel's 101 disques qui ont marqué le Québec and rates 3.5 stars out of 5 at AllMusic.
At the Amnesty International concert in Montréal in September 1988, Tracy and I were embarrassed not to recognize the Québécois artists with whom the Olympic Stadium crowd sang along, so we went out and bought a few records, including this one (though Séguin did not perform at the concert). At the time, I enjoyed this album very much; however, like Michel Rivard's Un trou dans les nuages, bought at the same time, it has not aged well.
