Leonard Cohen – The Future
Although recorded in about a dozen studios in Montreal and Los Angeles over the course of several years, Leonard Cohen's ninth studio album, The Future, maintains a consistency of tone, sombre, wryly humorous and more engaged with the outside world than many of his other efforts.
The album was hugely popular in Canada, reaching #3 on The Record album chart and going platinum, and garnered strong support from the international critics:
Tracy and I saw Cohen at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener during his tour for The Future, perhaps the first time we'd taken in a concert at that venue. It was a great 32nd birthday present for me and, we thought, quite a civilized way to listen to live music.
