Weakerthans – Reconstruction Site
Reconstruction Site is the third album from the Weakerthans, an indie band formed in Winnipeg by John K. Sampson, after he left Propagandhi, a punk band. It reached #28 on the Billboard independent albums chart, received 4 stars (out of 5) from AllMusic and ranked 49th on CBC Radio's 2013 list of the Greatest Canadian Albums Ever.
I remember seeing a poster when we dropped Teresa off in Kingston for her first term at Queen's University, in the fall of 2008, advertising an upcoming appearance by The Weakerthans, and wishing I was back at school, able to hear such great bands passing through.
Three songs from the album were released with music videos, "Psalm for the Elks Lodge Last Call," "The Reasons" and "Our Retired Explorer (Dines with Michel Foucault in Paris, 1961)," and "One Great City!" was played on CBC.
