54-40 – Baby Have Some Faith

"Baby Have Some Faith" was the final single released by 54-40 during their period with Warner Records out of the U.S. While ostensibly "inspired by the birth of my first kid," according to Neil Osborne, the song is also political in a vague, U2-ish way: "the enemy was a little more clear – the U.S. government in Central America and things like that."

Canadian Content: While the "soulless town" might refer to some specific Canadian place, the band name is definitely Canadian: it refers to "Fifty-Four Forty or fight!," a slogan used by Americans – including President James Polk – who vowed to expand the US border north to Alaska.
