"Closer to the Heart," one of their shortest songs at 2:52, was the first Rush single to chart, climbing into the top 40 in Britain and continuing to receive regular airplay on classic rock radio stations (and Rush live albums). Rather than the dystopian visions of their earlier albums, "Closer to the Heart" seems to be pointing the way to a utopia – a new reality moulded closer to the heart.
"Closer to the Heart" ranked 24th in Chart magazine's 2005 poll, 35th in Bob Mersereau's The Top 100 Canadian Singles and 99th in the Mar*Star's Canada 125 poll.
