The Travellers were a Canadian folk group – along the lines of the Weavers – who began performing in 1953.Their most famous song – one we learned in grade school – is this Canadianized version of Woody Guthrie's protest anthem. The delegates at the founding convention of the New Democratic Party sang it.
The Travellers apparently wrote the Canadian lyrics to the song circa 1955 and recorded it on their 1958 album, Across Canada With The Travellers, though the version I have, which was released as a single, is from their 1967 album, This Land: The Travellers Centennial Album.
