The Wailin' Jennys did not release any singles from their debut album, 40 Days, but the lead-off track captured the appreciation of enough of my friends to find its way onto this list. It has the sort of lyrics and simple melody that could easily make it a sing-along anthem (maybe rather than trying to get the members of our dysfunctional board of trustees from wrapping arms around each others' shoulders and singing "Kumbaya," I can get us to sing this song and encourage us to learn to speak with one voice).
