Odds – Wendy Under the Stars

Odds were an alternative rock band from Vancouver, who enjoyed some success on college radio. They released several singles from their debut album ( whose name, Neopolitan, an intentional misspelling of the ice cream flavour, shows just how "too clever" they tended to be), the third of which is this tale about the night Elvis Presley died.

Perhaps it is because I too was at a bush party the night Elvis died (although not in sexual communion with an older woman) that this song resonates with me. Or maybe it is just the refrain, "I was f***ing Wendy under the stars/The night that Elvis died," that catches my attention.
