Payola$ – Eyes of a Stranger

"Eyes of the Stranger" was the highest charting single from Payola$'s sophomore album, No Stranger to Danger, produced by Mick Ronson, of David Bowie fame. The song was featured in the movie Valley Girl and on the TV show Miami Vice, and is included in many lists of great Canadian songs: the 1992 Mar*Star poll (117th), all three Chart polls (16th in 1996, 31st in 2000, 15th in 2005), Bob Mersereau's The Top 100 Canadian Singles (75th), and the Huffington Post's Best Canadian Songs Ever (75th).

In the summer of 1982, shortly after Tracy and I were married, "Eyes of a Stranger" peaked at #4 on the Canadian singles charts. It won the 1983 Juno Award as Single of the Year.
