"One Tin Soldier" was the second single released by The Original Caste, a folk-pop group from Calgary, Alberta (who also had a top 40 hit with a song called "Sault Ste. Marie" that I'd love to hear). The song became a staple of the anti-war movement and was even taught to us in grade school music class.
The song was used in the soundtrack for Billy Jack, in a cover version by the American band Coven. The original The Original Caste song, the soundtrack version and a later version also by Coven all made it onto the US charts.
