David Clayton-Thomas & the Bossmen – Brainwashed

"Brainwashed," one of the first anti-Vietnam War songs, was recorded by an obscure band from Canada. The Bossmen featured David Clayton-Thomas, who would go on to fame as the front man for Blood, Sweat & Tears, on vocals, and local jazzmen Tony Collacot on piano and Jack Mowbray on guitar. Collacott and Mowbray were later in the jazz-rock fusion band Chimo.

Click here for the censored single version. (My Roman Records 7" does have "damn" beeped out; however, I was pretty sure I had an uncensored mp3 version, but I can't find that on the Web (and have read suggestions that no such thing exists, the Bossmen having beeped it out themselves).)

Note: I'm not actually sure who all appeared on this single, though it seems certain that Clayton-Thomas, Collacott and Mowbray did. I've seen Morrison and Ross mentioned as members of the Bossmen, but no indication whether or not they took part in this recording, and no mention of who plays that awesome bass part.
