Although Michel Pagliaro had released about a dozen previous singles, including some in each of Canada's official languages (and a couple in both), "J'entends frapper" was his first massive hit, quickly becoming Quebec’s best selling single in history and also managing to chart in English Canada.
Pagliaro was nominated for the Juno award as Best Male Singer in 1972 and "J'entends frapper" was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010.
