"Basement Apt." is the first single released by Sarah Harmer as a solo artist. It is a re-recording of a song she did with her band Weeping Tile a few years earlier. It reached at least as high as #35 on RPM Adult Contemporary Tracks and was listed #38 on the CBC's greatest songs.
We first heard about Sarah Harmer from my friend Frank Huntley, when he introduced us to the Saddletramps, a band he heard play around Queen's University in Kingston. We bought their Yardsale cassette, and then purchased Cold Snap, when Harmer moved on to Weeping Tile. So, it wasn't much of a surprise for us when her major label debut spawned this hit single.
