Robert Charlebois with Louise Forestier – Lindberg

"Lindberg" was the fourth single released by Robert Charlebois, but his first incorporating psychedelic rock and French-Canadian slang (joual). Charlebois, who had previously recorded with an acoustic guitar as a typical Québec chansonnier, transformed himself with this song into an electric rocker, with the help of Louise Forestier, who herself had cut one folk-style album and had been named Discovery of the Year by Radio-Canada in 1966, and le Quatuor de jazz libre du Québec, an avant-garde jazz ensemble.

"Lindberg" was a big hit in Québec, France and other parts of Europe. It is the highest ranked (#31) French song in Bob Mersereau's The Top 100 Canadian Singles book and is included in Roger Chamberland and André Gaulin's anthology, La Chanson Québécoise. Lindberg was shortlisted for the 2015 Polaris Heritage Prize for albums from the 1960s and 1970s.
