Anne Murray – Snowbird

"Snowbird" was Anne Murray's massive 1970 hit single. BMI listed it as the 19th most-performed song of 1930-1990. It earned its composer, Gene MacLellan, the 1970 Juno award for Composer of the Year and Brian Ahern the 1971 Juno award as Best Produced Single.

"Snowbird" has been covered by dozens of other artists, including Loretta Lynn, Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby and Rita MacNeil. In 2003, it was one of the first dozen songs inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and it is frequently included in greatest Canadian songs lists: 86th in the 1992 Mar*Star poll, 32nd in Chart magazine’s 1996 poll and 34th in 2000, 19th in CBC's both their 50 Tracks: The Canadian Edition, 10th in Bob Mersereau's The Top 100 Canadian Singles, 36th in Huffington Post's Best Canadian Songs Ever, and 24th in CBC's 100 Best Canadian Songs Ever.
