"Red" was originally recorded for and released on Treble Charger's debut album, 1994's nc17, and then again for their third album, 1997's Maybe It's Me. The latter version was released as the final single from the album and became a hit on university radio.
I suspect the Sault Ste. Marie connection that I share with the band may have contributed to "Red" finding its way into the top third of this list, though it did also place on Chart magazine's greatest Canadian song list in 1996 (the original version comes in 8th) and in 2005 (31st).
