Buffy Sainte-Maire – Universal Soldier

"Universal Soldier" is a song on Buffy Sainte-Marie's debut album, 1964's It's My Way! It was not released as a single by Buffy Sainte-Marie, but was quickly adopted by contemporary folk musicians, who grabbed onto its anti-Vietnam War sentiment. In 1965, "Universal Soldier" became a hit for bothIn Canada, "Universal Soldier" reached at least as high as #21 on the RPM singles chart, but that accounted for both the Donovan and Campbell versions. Donovan (#5 UK, #3 US) and Glen Campbell (#45 US). CBC has included Buffy Sainte-Marie's version among both their 50 Tracks in 2005 (#26) and their 100 Best Canadian Songs Ever in 2014 (#14).
