The Band – The Weight
"The Weight" is the first single released from The Band's debut album, Music from Big Pink. Although only a minor hit, the song is now recognized as one of the most important songs in the rock canon:
- CBC placed it 15th in in 2005 and 4th in the in 2013
- Chart magazine's Great Canadian Music ranked it 14th in and 7th in 2005
- Mar*Star called it the 31st best Canadian song in and 4th in
- Dave Marsh named it the 616th in The Heart of Rock and Soul
- Bob Mersereau placed it 3rd in in 2010
- New Musical Express called it the 100th (1976) and the 30th (2012)
- Pitchfork named it the 13th
- Rolling Stone ranked it the 41st greatest song of all time in 2004 and 2010
