Tom Cochrane – Mad Mad World
Tom Cochrane's first post-Red Rider solo album, Mad Mad World, was a massive success, selling over 1 million copies in Canada and spawning six hit singles: "Life Is a Highway" (#1), "No Regrets" (#3), "Sinking Like a Sunset" (#2), "Mad Mad World" (#25), "Washed Away" (#7) and "Bigger Man" (#45).
Mad Mad World earned Cochrane four Juno awards in 1992 for Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Single of the Year (for "Life Is a Highway") and received 4 stars out of 5 from AllMusic. It ranked 92nd in Bob Mersereau's 2007 book, .
During 1991-92, when we lived in Fort Frances, it seemed that the airwaves were full of Tom Cochrane and Bryan Adams, and I definitely preferred the former, though these songs haven't aged for me as well as some of the stuff he did with Red Rider.
