We Were Born in a Flame is the debut full-length album from singer-songwriter Sam Roberts. It debuted at #2 on the Canadian Album Charts and was certified platinum for sales of over 100,000.
The album won Juno Awards in 2004 for Album of the Year and Rock Album of the Year, Roberts was named Artist of the Year, and We Were Born in a Flame received 4.5 stars out of 5 from AllMusic. It ranked 97th in CBC Radio's 2013 list of the 100 Greatest Canadian Albums Ever and 100th in Bob Mersereau's 2007 book, The Top 100 Canadian Albums.
Several of the songs were previously recorded for and released on The Inhuman Condition, Roberts' previous EP. "Where Have All the Good People Gone?," "Hard Road," "Brother Down" and "Don't Walk Away Eileen" were all released as singles
