It is difficult to remember what radio was like before this album went down: Come On Over became the sixth best-selling album in US history, the best-selling country music album ever, the best-selling studio album by a female act, and the best selling album by a Canadian. It ranked 65th in Bob Mersereau's 2007 book, , and 32nd in CBC Radio's 2013 list of the .
Along with the commercial success, Come On Over met with critical acclaim:
We're talking about an album that topped the Billboard charts for almost a year (50 weeks) and has sold more than 40 million copies world wide. It topped the album charts in most of the world and spawned 12 singles, including "That Don't Impress Me Much" (#5), "Man I Feel Like a Woman" (#18) and "You've Got a Way" (#17).
