Bound by the Beauty is Jane Siberry's fifth album and, I suspect, one of her more successful, peaking at number 80 on the RPM Top 100 Albums chart. AllMusic rates it three stars out of five, which is the lowest rating it gives to any of Siberry's first seven albums (though the reviewer does single out "The Life Is a Red Wagon" and "Everything Reminds Me of My Dog" for special praise).
"Bound by the Beauty" was released as a single, "Something About Trains" was nominated for a 1990 Genie Award as the best original song (it appeared, under a different title, in The Top of His Head, a movie I've never seen), "The Valley" was covered by k.d. lang on her Hymns of the 49th Parallel album, and "Everything Reminds Me of My Dog" was greatly mocked by my brother Rick and then brother-in-law Steve Scott, the latter of whom hated when the media compared Jane Siberry to Laurie Anderson.
I can't remember ever seeing Siberry live: I can't imagine not having done so, though I've been told she didn't tour much.
