Lighthouse – One Fine Morning

One Fine Morning, the fourth album by rock-jazz orchestra Lighthouse, spawned two hit singles, the title track (#2 Canada, #24 USA) and "Hats Off (to the Stranger)" (#9 Canada). The album reached #80 in the U.S. album charts and went gold in Canada.

One Fine Morning also met with critical acclaim. Rolling Stone magazine (11 November 1971) reviewed the album, saying its up-tempo numbers are "better than anything ever written by any of their competitors in the neo-big band field" and recommending it "to anyone without fear of getting it thrown back at me." AllMusic gives the album four stars out of five.

Although we aren't old enough to have seen Lighthouse in their original incarnation, we did see them in revival form at the Kitchener Blues Festival in 2013, where they lit up the sunny Sunday morning stage, as I recall.
