Kashtin – Kashtin

Kashtin is the debut album by Kashtin, a First Nations folk duo from Québec, consisting of Florent Vollant and Claude McKenzie. The album name is the word for "tornado" in their native language and is ostensibly also a pun on "cashed in," as in sold out.

Although the songs are sung in their native Montagnais language (Innu aimun), Kashtin became a hit in Canada, peaking at #75 on the RPM Albums chart, and sold over 200,000 copies internationally. The singles, "E Uassiuian," "Tipatshimun" and "Tshinanu," were all hits in Québec.

The CD booklet includes the English (and/or French) translations of the song titles, along with brief descriptions of the songs.
