Andrew Cash – Boomtown

In 1987, Andrew Cash became the first Canadian artist signed to Island Records. Boomtown was Cash's second album for the label. AllMusic doesn't even provide a review, but rates Boomtown only two stars out of five.

I'm not sure when we saw Andrew Cash perform live, though I believe it was in the late 1980s, probably around the time of Boomtown. Although I knew of him from his time with L'Etranger, the great Toronto political punk band, I believe it was my sister-in-law Sande who first introduced me to his solo stuff – she had seen him perform at some literacy conference or something.

The video for the title track won the 1990 Juno Award for Best Video; unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it available on the web, so am unable to post a link to it. (Just this past Thursday, we were at a house party with/for Charlie Angus, who co-wrote "Boomtown" with Cash and who was also in L'Etranger.)
