Tension Attention is Daniel Lavoie's sixth album and his breakthrough in Europe (it reached #19 in France). On the success of the album and its single "Ils s'aiment," Lavoie embarked on a very successful solo concert show Hôtel des rêves both in Québec and across Europe. In 1984, Lavoie won three Félix awards, including best album (Tension Attention), male performer of the year, and best single ("Tension attention").
Tension Attention is generally agreed to be one of the most important francophone albums in Canadian history(for example, it is included in Éric Trudel's 101 disques qui ont marqué le Québec).
Five singles were released from Tension Attention: "Tension attention" (November 1983), "Roule ta boule" (March 1984), "Ils s'aiment"(August1984), "Fouquet's" (February 1985) and "Ravi de te revoir" (later in 1985).
