Living Under June is Jann Arden's second – and breakthrough – album., selling over half a million copies in Canada and achieving gold album status in the US. It peaked at #10 on the RPM album chart in Canada and #76 on the Billboard Top 200 in the US, and spawned six top 10 singles in Canada: "Could I Be Your Girl" (#3), "Insensitive" (#1),"Wonderdrug" (#4), "Unloved" (#8), "Good Mother" (#9), and "Looking for It (Finding Heaven)" (#7). AllMusic rated it four stars (our of five), CBC Radio included it at 70th in the 100 Greatest Canadian Albums list and Bob Mersereau at 87th in his The Top 100 Canadian Albums book.
Tracy and I were fortunate enough to see Jann Arden at Centre in the Square in Kitchener, courtesy of then City councillor Jake Smola and his then wife Kim (now Harburn), whose daughter I was coaching in hockey. We weren't big fans before the show, but Arden was very entertaining, mixing feminist, self-deprecating humour with her excellent songs, so we were fans by the time we left.
