Five Dollar Bill is the third album from Corb Lund. While the album didn't chart, it did sell enough to earn gold record status in Canada. "No Roads Here," "Five Dollar Bill," "Time to Switch to Whisky," "(Gonna) Shine Up My Boots" and "Roughest Neck Around" were all released as singles, with the latter two also having accompanying videos.
Five Dollar Bill was nominated as the Roots and Traditional Album of the Year at the 2003 Juno awards and the Corb Lund Band was nominated as the Roots Artist or Group of the Year at the 2003 Canadian Country Music Awards. AllMusic rewarded the album with four stars out of five.
This is another one of those artists that we got into on the advice of my brother Tim. We first saw them play at the Harbourfront, with Neko Case and the Sadies also on the bill, and also saw them at a memorable performance at the Ottawa Blues Festival with our kids and the Dean and Martha Fergusson clan.
