Barenaked Ladies – Gordon
Gordon was the Barenaked Ladies first full-length release, coming hot on the heels of their breakthrough success with the so-called The Yellow Tape cassette. It topped the RPM Album chart in Canada, earning diamond album status for sales over 1,000,000; though it didn't chart in the US, it did eventually earn platinum album status.
Gordon was nominated for the 1993 Juno Award for Album of the Year and Barenaked Ladies won for Group of the Year. AllMusic gave it four stars (out of 5). It ranked 38th on the Chart poll of great Canadian albums in 2000, 27th in book in 2007, 22nd in the in 2011 and 25th in CBC Radio's list in 2013.
Six songs from Gordon reached the singles charts in Canada: "Be My Yoko Ono" (#77), "Enid" (#2), "Grade 9" (#53), "If I Had $1000000" (#13), "Brian Wilson" (#18) and "What a Good Boy" (#34). "$1000000" is also included on this list of Great Canadian Songs.
